
Returning to Australia in 2012... The Imperial Russian Ballet Company's classic masterpeice in 3 acts "Sleeping Beauty".
Sleeping Beauty follows the story of Princess Aurora. During her christening, the King fails to invite the bad fairy Carabosse who then casts a spell on the Princess that will mean she will die from a needle prick at the age of 16. The King tries to protect his daughter by banning all needles but Princess Aurora pricks her finger on her sixteenth birthday.
Act 2 is set 100 years later, when a handsome prince stubbles upon the Sleeping Beauty, Princess Aurora. She is awoken from her sleep and witchcraft is defeated, while the Princess and Prince are married. Read more
The Imperial Russian Ballet Company was formed in 1994, headed by the Bolshoi Theatre soloist Gediminas Taranda. The Imperial Russian Ballet Company comprises 40 dancers from the major ballet schools of Russia: Moscow and Perm.
